SenZar

Post by Hicks »

Published in '97 by the now defunct Nova Eth, the SenZar RPG is proported to be the power gamer's mecca in print form. I have been looking for this game for close to 3 years. Apparently it still exists out there for downloading on the internet, but my Google-Fu is weak.

Anyway and long story short: Does anybody here know were I can find a copy of SenZar? Thanks for your time.

EDITED to remove solicitation of a pirated copy. - fbmf

You should not be asking for illegal links on this board, it will only get the people who set this place up for us in trouble.

I had been on the hunt for this game ever since I read some article on 5 under-appreciated games whereupon I learned of its existence. I didn't find it at GenCon anywhere but I did locate it on Amazon.com. I stuck it on my wishlist for anyone else to get for me since I am not that motiviated.

It's a much lower priority for me though since I'm not even getting to play any role playing games that I've been waiting to play for years. I may have to find new gaming friends. =-(

Unfortunately that is not a legal term. And copyrights take longer than a dozen years to expire. If I recall correctly US copyrights last for until all creators have been dead for more than fifty years.

It's not quite that long for corporations. I think (but don't quote me on it) that corporate copyrights last for 28 years or 56 years if renewed. This game would still be covered, though.

I haven't seen a copy in my poking around - not on eMule, not on Rapidshare, Megaupload, a few others, no torrents...

Also, it's illegal! Bad bad bad! Shame on you!

Wait, so the law encourages the murder of creators of content? Wow.

Only if you don't get caught (premeditated homicide and all). And if AMW is right, it actually encourages you *more* to perform corporate sabotage. :)

Well obviously it's not something I'd suggest people do, whether the copyright law encourages it or not. And yeah, the premeditation sort of would make it Murder 1 or With Intent or whatever.

I just thought it odd that the law would be based on their death. A fixed set of time would be better. But then again, I'm no lawyer or lawmaker, what do I know? And really, you couldn't trust me on these matters anyway - the colour of my text being a clue as to where I stand on these things, comrade.

You're forgetting that recent Supreme Court ruling that it was illegal for people to attempt to adjust their behavior to conform to what they thought the law was before they had been sued. So because SenZar is abandonware, you can't be sued. And it's illegal to stop downloading illegal copies of it until you are.

So even though the law is totally fucked on this issue, making it illegal to distribute abandonware for decades, the even more fucked 5-4 Supreme Court ruling that we don't have to follow laws cancels that out.

What?

If there was ever a time to say 'the HELL' on these message boards, this would be one of those times.

Your freedom to add and change rules in the middle of the game is in direct conflict with my ability to understand that rules system before I decided whether or not to join your game.

In short, your entire post is dismissive of not merely my intelligence, but my agency. And I don't mean agency as a player within one of your games, I mean my agency as a person. You do not want me to be informed when I make the fundamental decisions of deciding whether to join your game or buying your rules system.

If you believe that the law is against you but you haven't actually been taken to court, changing your behavior to conform to the law can get you sued.

5-4 baby! You don't have to make sense as long as you're upholding the conservative agenda! Booyeah!

[The Great Fence Builder Speaks]

Hicks, you can not ask for a pirated copy to download for free. I get enough nasty grams from publishing companies as it is.
